How to treat an abcess on your gums

Friday, September 29th, 2006

A tooth abcess (actually spelt abscess) is when you get an infection in your gums; during this process, you will normally get a collection of ”pus” forming (this simply means your body is having a hard time fighting off the infection)!

You can dramatically help your body and immune system out by applying a strong anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal agent (such as Oram Plus) onto the area of infection… and it should start to clear up nicely within a few days :)

Does baking soda whiten teeth?

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

…The simply answer is ‘Yes’, Baking soda is a great teeth whitener and it even helps neutralize any nasty breath odours!

To use; simply dip a wet toothbrush into a little baking soda and brush as usual. For best results use in conjunction with Oram Plus as Baking soda doesn’t contain any anti-cavity or anti-bacterial agents!

TRY IT; Baking soda and Oram Plus, makes your teeth look and feel great!!!

Are You Afraid of the Dentist?

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Now, here’s an article that I can relate to! “Dental Phobia Panic and Anxiety” looks at this all-too-common reaction to going to the dentist. Sometimes people have a bad experience with a dentist and can’t quite get over it. (I personally freaked out in the dentist’s chair once when I was 17.)

Other times, people are phobic about needles, and sometimes they just don’t like pain.

Of course, a little pain never hurt anyone. :-)

Does heart disease go along with gum disease?

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Heart disease is a leading cause of death among men and women. Unfortunately, there seems to be evidence that gum disease can predispose someone to heart disease. This probably happens because the bacteria that causes the gum disease gets into the bloodstream. From there they attach to the fat deposits in the blood vessels. The theory goes that the result can be blood clots or a heart attack.

If you have had a heart valve replacement or other known problems with your valves, you need to take good care of your gums. Also, be sure to tell your dentist about any problems you have with your heart.

Smoking may cause up to HALF of all gum disease cases!!

I found an interesting article today on how smoking may be linked to gum disease, check it out by clicking here

Apparently new research indicates cigarette smoke destroys the antioxidants in your saliva called ‘glutathiones’ (which help keep your gums healthy)!!
