The term “periodontitis” refers to bacterial infections of the gums. These infections cause many problems. They cause inflammation of the gums, but also cause bone to be lost near the teeth. The term “gingivitis” refers to mild gum inflammation. When it has been happening for several years and has started to cause bone loss, the name Periodontitis applies.
Traditional dentists and dental hygienists recommend having the gums and teeth cleaned professionally (and expensively - by them!) every 3 or 4 months. I wonder if that is really necessary. It seems like there should be some natural remedy that could counteract the progression of gingivitis and periodontitis.
Actually, in the case of our seventeen year old son, we have ordered a bottle of Oram Plus.
This preparation is a combination of natural essential oils, herbs and plant extracts… our son is scheduled to have a gum treatment done tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be sure to fill you in on everything we find out.

For a young person, a diagnosis of gum disease can seem like a ball and chain. One eighteen year old we know was told he would have to have his teeth professionally cleaned every three months for the rest of his life if he wanted to keep them. What a drag! And what an expense! And even for those of us who are older, it still sounds scary.
So what causes gum disease? And is there anything you can do to hold off the progression? We’ll be looking for answers to these questions and more as we proceed with this blog. If you happen to have questions or comments, please post them! Let’s get to the root of the problem and find some solutions.
